Banana Republic to arrive in city with Polo Park outlet

There will be a Banana Republic in Winnipeg this summer but without the drama of a military-style coup d'tat. The high-end clothier will christen its first Manitoba store in July, a 5,000-square-foot-plus store in Polo Park shopping centre, continuing a trend that has seen some of retail's biggest names set up in the city's biggest mall.

Shares of J.C. Penney Company, Inc. hit a new 52-week high on Thursday. The stock traded as high as $41.24 during mid-day trading and last traded at $40.72. The stock previously closed at $34.28. Separately, analysts at Morgan Stanley reiterated an "underweight" rating on shares of J.C. Penney Company in a research note to investors on Tuesday.
